I understand some people hate the very mention of shot attempt stats, but I'm gonna post this anyways. Over the last three NHL seasons, among 199 forwards with 2350+ 5-on-5 minutes played, Korpikoski has the 198th best zone/score adjusted relative CF% (-6.28%). For some comparision, 178th place, Matt Stajan, has a kind-of-bad, but not
cringe-inducing number (-1.57%). For further comparision, Kris Russell, who gets killed publicly for his possession issues (-4.08%) is still less of a possession black hole while being a better point producer for his position.
In the preseason game last night, Korpikoski was on the ice for 12 shot attempts against. He was on the ice for
zero shot attempts for.
