THRASHERS WIN A CLOSE GAME, IMPROVE RECORD TO 4-0-0

(Winnipeg - CP)

The Atlanta Thrashers won for the 4th straight game Friday Night in Winnipeg but the game was closer then some expected. The game came down to the final minutes and was won on a goal by winger Jay Pandolfo with 1:28 to go in the 3rd period. Pandolfo took a cross ice pass from Alexander Korolyuk and ripped a shot glove side by Jets goalie Brent Johnson.

The Jets thought they would get atleast a point out of this contest as Petr Cajanek scored a short handed goal with 2:49 to go but Pandolfo erased any chance of that with his winning goal.

The story of the night again had to be the Thrashers first line. The line of Walker-Forsberg-Sullivan had a monstrous game combining for 2 goals and 5 assists. Walker and Sullivan each had a goal for the Thrashers. They propelled the Thrashers back from a 2-0 deficit. Alexander Korolyuk scored the other Thrashers goal. Alexander Khavanov and Brett McLean scored the other Jets goals in the 2nd period to jump out to a 2-0 lead. The Thrashers are now 4-0-0 and have 4 days off before they play the Nordiques.
