Yeah.
It's sad to hear that his health issues could force him out of the game – but I'm glad that he's not trying to force himself to play while injured. And I'm glad he's getting paid for the remainder of his contract, because the guy is a warrior and it's no fault of his that he can't play. And yes, I'm glad that the LTIR exemption will come into effect so the Flames can afford to sign another defenceman.
Still, I hope he can make a full recovery. It's at least conceivable that a year off will allow him to heal to the point where he can play again without risking re-injury. Maybe he should be talking to Gary Roberts, who missed an entire season with a neck injury but then went on to play portions of 12 more seasons. If there is a way to repair his neck safely, Roberts can probably help him track it down.
