I can only imaging how many 60 point scorers from the 80's who were paid $125k a year thought the world was going to pot when Jason Spezza signed for $1.5 million.
That's how things work. In 20 years, this generation of NHLer will look in awe at the next generation of 60 point players that sign for $10 million.

The salary cap did force teams to be more favourable to the ELC players, since they're the ones who can put you over the top in a competitive league
