Dropping the black from the third jerseys is a step in the right direction. But I don't have much faith in the next set of home and away uniforms will be without substantial use of black. The Flames just love it for some reason.
Even with the Flames owning the Stampeders, they've actually added more black to those uniforms. Including a separate black helmet for the away set. It just looks ridiculous. You'd think that they'd try and avoid branding to be red and black now that there's a team that is so red and black that they've named themselves after it. (Still a stupid name though, IMO, but better in French)
I'm fine with black as a little bit of trim or as a special third jersey, but the 1990s fad of adding black to everything has long since passed. I'd love to see a completely redesigned set of home and away uniforms using the Flames' original colours - red, yellow, and white.
