Right now, I highly doubt that there'd be any backlash in the media if Mourinho dropped him. Now or never.

What some players can get in contracts never surprises me, so I could see it. If that's the case Mourinho should just make him a deal that you'll always be first off the bench so long as it's not an injury sub (like don't put him at FB for instance...). He still gets decent playing time and in a limited, 30-40 minute roll off the bench he could probably still be effective. But as I said until Mourinho solves this riddle he's probably destined to get himself fired in a year or two.
