I'm sure a lot of people get into it for the altruistic reasons, but you're absolutely kidding yourself if you don't think a massive portion of them aren't doing it simply for the power trip to pacify their twisted ego's.

I know two guys that became OPP officers who were both drug dealers in high school. One of them was since charged with break and enter and was fired from the OPP.
I don't doubt there are a lot of people who join up because they want to be crooked and exploit the power.
My girlfriend when I was 16 was also stalked by a police office that was always trying to pick her up (she was 15 at the time).
