Ekblad is going to be a number one Dman. That's huge. Gaudreau is going (arguably already is) to be an elite point producer (but probably never a real 200 foot guy IMO).
I don't think US v. Canadian birth is very impactful at all. I've always thought hometown hero is pretty overstated as a factor in contracts, marketing, UFA signings, etc. Nothing I've seen indicates that Kane is bigger than, say, Crosby or Ovechkin in the US. In fact, in Chicago I bet there are as many Toews jersey sales.
