When Reggie McKenzie took over the Raiders they had 43.6% of their salary cap tied up in dead money in 2013 after he started cutting Al's overpaid players. Three years later thanks to good drafting things are turning around. Saints are probably doing the right thing long term by getting out of some bad deals and taking the pain now. However it kind of clashes with their window of winning with Brees that's going to close soon so they are kind of treading water. The offense is still very good but they haven't had a good defense since they won the Super Bowl and that's on Peyton and Loomis.
