Kind-of sort-of.
A lot of bluetooth devices have an additional chip which greatly helps with audio transmission -
aptX. It is an audio codec installed in the hardware/firmware that really improves audio transmission. It needs to exist on both ends - in the phone and in the headphone, and of course both those must pay royalties to Qualcomm to use it. It is in a lot, but not all, bluetooth products. It can't be too crazy expensive, I have even seen it listed on the super cheap
mPow bluetooth earbuds.
I'm guessing Apple created something similar to do the same thing.
