Tax rate greatly favours Ekblad, in that he gets paids a lot more in Florida than he would have made in Alberta.
Ekblad would have been offersheet eligible and his contract has 4 UFA years instead of 3. So, like Tarasenko, that's pretty significant difference. Also, Ekblad signed a full year earlier (his contract doesn't kick in until after this season), which I'm not sure who that favours but it's a pretty big difference.
