I'm not sure how negotiations are going but if they are $1.5M apart like Eric Francis states (I think he's pretty accurate), it looks like they are pretty far apart. But that doesn't mean the team and the player will have a strained relationship. Drew Doughty and the Kings had a difficult negotiation too and he didn't sign until almost October and it appears both camps are on the same page.

I find it funny how some posters think solving this stalemate is as simple as finding the number in the middle. If that is the case, Treliving should just offer $1M and then "compromise" in the middle and get Johnny signed at $4.5M on an 8 year deal.
