I agree. I would say Monahan was barely over his comparables, as MacKinnon only got 75K/year less and Barkov took a year less on his deal. Extrapolate Barkov to a 7 year deal and he gets much closer to the MacKinnon/Monahan numbers.
And to boot, Monahan has the best stats to date of the trio, though you could argue that will even out long term with this trio
Gaudreau has no real close, recent comparable, which is what is helping hold up talks, along with his agent making this deal the hill he dies on.
