Your false equivalency is false. It is also highly insulting to the intelligence of anyone to suggest as much as you are boiling down this election to a personalities rather than an actual fitness test for office.
One one side of this race you have Hillary R. Clinton. She is a former First Lady and was really the first to take on an active role in government policy formation. She worked to try and promote several initiatives while she was in the White House and gained invaluable experience during that eight years in residence. She has also been a Senator and Secretary of State. She has been working in the public sector he whole professional life, usually in aid of families and children. The problem is that she is a heinous bitch. That's right, no one likes her, but a lot of that has developed over 30 years of a concerted RW smear job against her and her husband. There have been more conspiracy theories built up around these two than the Kennedy assassination, the moon landing, and 9/11 combined. They have been attacked by the Republicans through every mechanism possible. Kenneth Starr came up empty. Seven separate Benghazi hearings came up empty. A FBI investigation into wrong doing in handling information came up empty. Clinton has been vetted to the highest levels in way imaginable. There are calls for her to mothball the Clinton Foundation while she is in office, even though the Clinton Foundation has been proven, by the top watch dog of these organizations, as one of the most efficiently charitable foundations on the planet. Clinton has released her taxes and every other document of interest to aid in the vetting process. Clinton has done more than everything imaginable to be vetted.
One the other side of this race you have Donald J. Trump. Trump is a failed businessman, four times over. He was set up for life by his father and he still managed to piss it all away, on four different occasions. Trump is a showman and all bravado. He is a firm believer in the Joseph Gobbels school of public policy; if you repeat the same lie with enough confidence people will believe it. This is Trump in a nutshell. He is all bravado. All smoke and mirrors, and refuses to allow anyone to get close enough to pull back the curtain. The closest anyone has ever got to this man is Tony Schwartz, and he has nothing good to say about Trump. The Donald is a serial liar, believes some of the most incredible nonsense imaginable, is at best an ego-maniac and at worst a sociopath. Donald J. Trump has never done anything that was not for Donald Trump or about Donald Trump. To make matters worse, Trump refuses to go through the vetting process. He bans media that ask hard questions. He refuses to offer up information to inform the public about what type of person he is. He hides behind the curtain of privacy when he wants the highest public office in the land.
Sorry, these two candidates are nothing alike, nor have they faced the same level of scrutiny. Both are highly unlikable, but for very different reasons. One is unlikable because she is a career politician, and we just naturally don't like career politicians because they are forced to tell half-truths to strike deals. The other is unlikable because he is a self-serving individual who does nothing without his own best interests in mind. He lies and lies and lies, non-stop, and it has been acceptable because he works in the private sector where only other fat cats get screwed over by his lies. There is the rub. One has served the public, the other has served only himself. Again, massive difference. I can forgive someone who lies to try and make the lives of everyone a little better. I can't forgive someone who lies to only benefit themselves. While both candidates may be repugnant, there is one who would put the nation's interest ahead of their own, and, coupled with her actual resume of public service, that is what makes her a viable candidate for President. The only thing the other candidate is qualified for is rodeo clown.
