Dear Sir or Madam:
Your prayer to let the hockey season start soon has been noted. Unfortunately, Heaven is not at liberty to alter the NHL schedule. If we were, we would be quite happy to have hockey all the year round; it is a popular pastime in these parts, especially since Mr. Howe arrived.
Meanwhile, back on Earth, the power to change the hockey season lies chiefly with Mr. Gary Bettman and Mr. Donald Fehr. Regrettably, neither of those gentlemen will accept orders from this office, and so you must petition them directly.
It may gratify you to know, however, that your prayer is at least unlikely to make them start the hockey season
later than they had originally planned.
