Why should he have chosen his words more carefully? He likely just reported it the way JGs camp told it, and based on JGs own comments the other day there's no reason to doubt it.
You may be right that the Flames and JG's agent may still talk, seems clear JG wants to focus on hockey during the WC (and good for him, smart choice) so he won't be available to discuss any new developments let alone sign.
Not sure why Friedman gets the brunt of your displeasure for telling it how he was told it was. Just because you don't like the way it potentially paints Johnny doesn't matter. JGs camp is certainly playing some hard ball (as are the Flames likely) Friedman shouldn't feel the need to dance around it to protect either side's sterling image.
