In the quote from the article I posted it pretty much says exactly that. Gaudreau said his agent will still be in conversation with the Flames but he didn't want to be involved during the World Cup. Involved meaning involved in negotiations one would assume. If there's key points they want Johnny's approval on and recommend as they move to an agreement that's not really negotiating anymore and more in the closing stage and of course Johnny would have input/approval.
I took two things from the recent quote; first that Johnny's agent will still be negotiating with the Flames during World Cup contrary to Friedman's statement (I guess he did say Gaudreau won't and that's not entirely untrue) and that Johnny likely has been involved more so than previous quotes may have indicated.
