If there is a red streak on your route, that is stopped traffic. Yellow is moving slowly, and green is moving at the speed limit. It's live, all the time. Must be based on how many phones are moving at what speed.

I used to use Waze until it became a big advertising structure for Google. It was great. Wish they had paid options for those apps, because having big Tim Hortons ads pop up while you are at a stop light was frustrating.
