I was never much for message boards - found the quality of the content to be mind-numbing. Didn't know it at the time, but I just wasn't going to the right places.
Posted on the main Flames board for a few years, simply because I wanted to talk Flames, but it was pretty painful most of the time (except for ConnorFutureGM, an Oilers fan - his idiocy kept it interesting).
Tried HF on someone's recommendation, but I found that worse than the main boards. I thought the quality of posting there was no better than CDC.
Heard about CP a few times, but every time I checked it out, it seemed like every thread was degrading into an Iginla debate, with the same half a dozen posters on each side of the argument, saying the same things over and over, with the same half a dozen thanks under each post, and - frankly - it made my stomach turn (and you all know who you are).
However, when the strike hit in 2012, I then discovered why CP is so awesome... the huge variety of sources - really good quality sources - of information, different points of view etc. Even though some of the arguments about the strike were pretty repetitive as well, it showed me how great CP can be.
Then I discovered the other topics and there was no looking back. Now I am ridiculously, and shamefully, addicted to the site and come here everyday. I hate myself for it, but love the site.
