These are some fair points. One thing that concerns me is Gaudreau's agent knowing there is potential for a lot more money south of the border. I personally think that Johnny is going to be a face of the entire league as the transition from the Crosby era to the McDavid era occurs. Considering that he is from the NEUS perhaps his agent feels the endorsements that would be available to Johnny playing in a Boston, NY, Philly market is the way he should go.
My biggest fear with this negotiation is the term which I can imagine the Gaudreau camp trying to get around the 5-6 year term where the Flames want 7-8 years. If Johnny signs a 6x6 deal I think that is a loss for Treliving personally.
