It looks like they will be icing a significantly better team than the one that tied the Flames in the standings last year.

Unless it was totally the goalies fault last season for the Flames it could be argued that the Coyotes have made a bigger upgrade than the Flames and have done a better job filling the holes. ie their hopeful additions of Dvorak and Strome has a chance to work out a lot better than adding Shinkaruk/Pribyl/Vey/Chassion
.

Their adding Gologski and Schenn beats the Flames adding Jokipakka and getting Wideman back for a full year.

Maybe it is because I am a Flames homer but the Flames leaving: Hudler, Russell, Colbourne, Jones are more significant than what the Yotes lost.

My take on what the Flames have done from last year from another post:
Yotes have made some good moves, but I don't think they are significantly better than last year. Their improvement from the moves this summer are likely to manifest in a few years from now.

Their reason for improvement this year, if it happens, is the progression of Domi and Duclair, and a turnaround for Smith in goal. Could happen for Domi/Duclair, but I don't see it for Smith.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.
