I agree with the point you're making: you only trade him one-for-one
Any 'package' is a quality for quantity trade and is an automatic loss for the team.
Hall's return was a function of the fact that the Oilers had no choice. I think it also a function of the fact that Chia had determined that Hall was part of the problem in the room , and he was, shall we say,
motivated to move him.
There is no need to trade Gaudreau. And the team structure isn't flawed. So if you were to trade him - AND THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL THAT HE IS ACTUALLY TRADED - but if you were, the only sensible trade is a one-for-one for another young star of similar caliber and value.
