Umm, read my post again,

It doesn't sound ridiculous at all. Like I said, 6.5M would be fair, but I don't think 7M would be unfair, and I could easily see it ballooning to 7M if they are
trying to just get a deal done.

That's exactly what I did when I said
"Forsberg + 10%, ceiling Tarasenko +10%, so that's between 7M and 8M on a 7 year deal.". You literally just quoted that in your reply

Why would 7.5x8 be the max when Tarasenko got that deal a year ago as a less proven player with worse numbers? Inflation alone would turn that into ~8M/year
Tarasenko - 66g 135p in 179gp at the time of his contract
Gaudreau - 55g 143p in 160gp at the time of his contract
So on top of inflation, Gaudreau has been a more productive player at every stage of their respective NHL careers.
So why is that ridiculous to think he should get paid 8M on a 8 year deal?
