2016 IAAF Diamond League Thread
Following the Olympics, Girlysports suggested that this forum be used continuously for events featuring Canadians, keeping us all more engaged on the talented athletes that this country produces, and I think it's a great idea!
We can use this thread to discuss to goings on in the IAAF, and Athletics competitions in general. The first post-Olympics event in the IAAF Diamond League is on Thursday August 25 in Lausanne Switzerland, with some Canadian content! All Diamond League events are available to stream on the CBC Sports website, as well as the CBC Sports app. You can even set up the CBC Sports app to send you push notifications for when a live event is available to stream!
Scheduled for 12:05 Shawn Barber looks to rebound from his disappointing Olympics in the Pole Vault competition. Renaud Lavillenie, Rio's Silver medalist (who compared being booed to what Jesse Owens went through), and the Bronze medalist, American Sam Kendricks will also be competing.
At 12:35 the Women's 800m Race begins, with Melissa Bishop racing. Bishop who we remember finished 4th in Rio, barely missing out on a medal while setting a Canadian record will try and get over that disappointment.
Canadian Christabel Nettey jumps in the Women's Long Jump, scheduled to begin at 13:00.
Scheduled for 13:52 is the Men's 200m race, featuring Canadian Aaron Brown. Brown was a member of the Bronze Medal winning 4x100m Relay Team.
Reminder, all Diamond League events can be streamed on the CBC Sports site and app!
