The production has that thick, wet sound, and the songs and structures have more in common with the 80s than they do with anything Metallica has put out in the last 20 years. I'm sure the old guard fans will like it and the newer-ish fans won't care anyways, it's Metallica, buy it.
At least Lars snare doesn't sound like a garbage can getting hit by a 76 Buick, gotta give them credit for that.
