ugh - so my thunderbolt developed an annoying creaking in the pedal/BB area.

I took apart the pedals (and of course had some difficulties getting the pedals apart thanks to a tiny stripped allen bolt) and cleaned and greased them. No difference, swapped pedals - no difference.

took the bike to my LBS - they pulled upart the bottom bracket and the bearsin there are smooth like butter. They put in some spacer on the drive side and adjusted the BB bearing pre-load. Tested it at the shop, all good. Get the bike home, go for a spin and creaking sound is back. will have to ride it as is for the weekend and then take it back on Sunday afternoon....ugh!!!
