That's a wet dream for Flames management, there's no way it will be that low. That's probably closer to what the Flames are offering than to what this contact will end up being. The Tarasenko comparison is apt, and Johnny knows we can't afford to trade him given where the rebuild is at with him being our one star forward in a hyper-obsessed hockey market.
Might as well brand us Oilers 2.0 if they can't figure this out and JG knows it. He's in a better bargaining position than people realize. In the event of a holdout, worst case is for management is it costs Treliving his job if it causes too much damage to the season... with JG, there really is no consequence outside of lost wages, especially with the WC here to keep him in game shape.
