What happens when you divide by people within 250km. This concept of bigger resort, or more elevation has almost nothing to do with quality.
What you want is good snow, no lines, and low cost.

We're not talking about quality per se. Places like Red Mountain are 10 times better than Whistler for those exact reasons (prices, lines, terrain), but it's not a world class resort.
The comment was that European resorts were dinky and that couldn't be further from the truth. Most of the resorts there blow what we have out of the water in terms of sheer size and scope.
Dinky resorts could very well be hidden gems.
