I am guessing it's term as well.
Flames would probably love a contract that brings him within one year of unrestricted free agency. Gaudreau probably wants one that brings him to the earliest unrestricted free agency year.
In the end, i suspect he is going to get a long term deal and the Flames buy at least a couple of free agency years.
I would not be surprised to see a hold out situation though, so brace yourselves.
