Some devices may not like there are two separate APs using the same SSID in very close proximity and may end up flipping back and forth between the two APs. Since you do not have newer APs that will do the steering and handoff, it's safer to do the dual SSIDs.
Up to you though, depends on your devices really and how they handle things. Pick as needed.
