That's a double edged sword. If you're talking strictly economics, he is better off playing in the city he wants to live in year round.

Which I guess is kind of the crux of the issue. How many American players sign 7 or 8 year deals to play in Canada? Particularly a player who didn't play junior hockey here either.

Im starting to think its not a bad sign this is taking a while as it should indicate they are working on a long term deal. If Johnny's camp had no interest in a LT deal you'd think it would be settled by now. The longer the deal, the more complex in this case.
