It almost seemed like the Yankees were better off in the late 90's early 00's when they had a few guys playing every day who weren't superstar type guys in that lineup. Guys like Paul O'Neil, and Scott Brosius. I remember in 96 Torre pretty much won the series with half his backups playing those last 4 games that they won. This years Yankees lineup looked so stacked, but even in an individual game like Baseball the chemistry just wasn't there. It seemed like they were at their best when they had to use guys like Melke Cabrera, and Miguel Cairo consistantly.
Similar to trying to take top line hockey players and stick them on the third line. You can't take a .300 hitter with 30 home runs and hit him 7th in the order, it just doesn't seem to work. The Yankees need to refocus on trying to create a better team, and not a better collection of individual talents.
