They're fundamentally different candidates. If Clinton had delivered that line about fewer horses and bayonets and his sarcastic, "we now have these things called "aircraft carriers" where planes land on them", she'd be pilloried in just the same way Al Gore was for condescension because she just doesn't have Obama's natural affable way of delivering these messages.
Can you imagine if she had faced McCain? I mean, I like John McCain. Who does this these days? Can you imagine Trump, or hell, Ted Cruz making these statements?
