Moreover, in terms of sadistic villains, there's absolutely no one more sadistic than Kilgrave, though I'm not sure if you want to count that given that it's a Netflix series. But outside of Nolan's series, the villains have been mostly cartoons. What the heck was Luthor's motivation in BvS?

My opinion may be far from perfect, I'm just trying to summarize how I feel about the 2 companies in general. You can pretty much pick up any comic from the two companies without seeing the cover and know which group it came from within a couple pages.
The hero in GOTG was still an ordinary joe from earth in the beginning.
