Since he's only 20 years-old, if it was an NHL contract, it would have to be a 3-year ELC (as far as I know, teams don't have the option of offering shorter ELCs than what is designated in the CBA). If it's only a one-year contract, it must be an AHL deal (if he does well in Stockton, that can be upgraded to an NHL deal midseason).
Oh, I guess I missed the part where it says AHL deal in the title... so, yeah.
