Canadian icons Tragically Hip shine at an emotional Saddledome show

It’s one last tour. For many on Monday, one last show; potentially the last time we will hear these songs that meant so much, culturally, to our country’s coming of age and, personally, to virtually every spectator at the Saddledome Monday night.

There were the songs that weren’t played, of course.

But, deeper than that, it would have been great to see what the band would offer going into their twilight years. What would they be singing about at 70? It was hard not to think about as the rest of the band vacated the stage and left Downie by himself, waving to the crowd with the house lights on.

For Monday’s audience, this one last chance to connect would have to be enough.
