Vermette just lost $1.25 million dollars because of the buyout. He is also put in a bad negotiating position. Unlike if he was a free agent on July 1st, a lot of potential teams are out of the question, as they have already committed their cap dollars. There is a good chance that he signs for much less than the $1.25 million.

Yeah but there's no guarantee he'll sign for your team. You can grab him for free right now if you put in a claim. If you have the room and need a Center, it'd be easier to claim him
