THRASHERS BEAT NORDIQUES TO IMPROVE TO 2-0-0 ON THE SEASON

The Atlanta Thrashers took an early lead and never looked back to beat the Quebec Nordiques 4-2 Monday afternoon. The star of the game was Atlanta's superstar captain Peter Forsberg. Foppa had a goal and two assists and was named the game's first star.

Atlanta's first line which comprises of Forsberg at center, with Steve Sullivan and Scott Walker on the wings, each had a goal in the game and combined for 3 goals and 4 assists in this contest. Atlanta also had a goal in the 2nd straight game from defenseman Keith Carney. After jumping out to a first period 2-0 lead, the Thrashers scored two more in the second and led 4-0 after two period. The Nordiques finally got 2 3rd period goals from Kurt Sauer and Zach Parise to cut the lead to 4-2.
Notes: Quebec defensman Marc Andre Bergeron left the game due to an injury in the 1st period. Atlanta's next game is at home vs the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday Night.
