Personally, short of doing something really disrespectful, like flipping it over on stage at a rock concert or defacating/urinating on it, anything goes. Players/non-players, who cares, it is a personal preference if you touch it, hold it, drink from it or lift it over your head like you just won the stanley cup playing street hockey. Silly rules and superstitions are ok for NHLers. For the rest of us, if you get to drink/hold/lift the Cup, you do it.
My son will not touch the cup, he has seen it 3 times.

I have seen the cup and touched it 3 times.

He is 10.
