You know, I was all for shouting NIMBY but now that I took a quick look and read what they are suggesting, it doesn't make much sense. They are a few small lots that they want to build a house with 2 suites on each one. Wouldn't it make more sense, as one of the residents suggested, to sell the lots to the people who want to buy them, and use the space directly on 16th (or 17th) where they could build one larger complex that would be far more efficient and denser as affordable housing?
That would make sense except that I don't believe that the lots are really that desirable and therefore good revenue generators. I think the articles stated that the lots are only 20 feet wide so it would require some sort of special permit and it would be an extremely narrow home. The lots are also right along the 16th Ave concrete wall. I doubt any developer would pay a "large" sum of money of this land.

We aren't talking about a 50 foot lot with city views that would fetch well into the high six figures.
