This is an example of going too far for viral exposure. It worked well for a few years so some dummy in marketing was like "Ohh haha, the worse the list is the more people engage online!!".
Nope, you make it a somewhat decent, cohesive list with a few headscratchers and you'll get people talking. You keep going each year to the point where nothing even makes sense, and you'll get what you get - Everyone basically laughing at it's absurdity, followed by no one bothering to look next year.
