I don't think 2017 will be the end of DRS. More grip should lead to less performance loss (aka aero push); the car behind in theory should suffer less from running in 'dirty air'. How often do you see teams take front wing out on pitstops? Almost never, virtually every stop bar the leader they are putting front wing in.
I'd expect to see the trail car be able to remain closer for longer before using up tyres and brakes before attempting an overtake. It should make DRS and MGU-K deployment even more important and perhaps actually relevant in the shorter DRS zones.
