you put the egg into the incubator and walk. Once you've walked the 2/5/10 km, the egg hatches ... you'll see an egg plastered over your screen and the word "Oh?", you tap the egg so it breaks and then you'll see the Pokemon you've hatched. The sequence will
look something like this ... it's pretty much impossible to not see it.
Hatched another 10 km egg today ... for once it wasn't a Magmar, but an Eevee
oh well. At least I could evolve it into a Jolteon to complete my Eevee collection. Had a 100 percent success rate with the Pyro/Rainer/Sparky nicknames, that trick definitely works.
