But it does matter who is POTUS, depending on whether or not we can gut the Senate/House of the GOP obstructionist who have done their damnedest to keep Obama from accomplishing anything.
If the Senate/House remains in power of the GOP, with Trump at the helm--and thus giving the actual power of the POTUS office to Pence--the GOP led House/Senate are going to do their best to stop Planned Parenthood, dial back the LGBT rights that have been won in the last 8 years, they're going to expand on Religious Freedom (because their religious beliefs are more important than the basic human rights of the people they disagree with), they're going to eliminate the Affordable Care Act (and in doing so, take away affordable healthcare from millions of people), they're going to privatize Social Security and Medicare, gut the social safety net, completely and totally hamstring the EPA, etc. The only thing that's kept this Congress from doing this stuff is that Obama was at the helm to veto it.
Also the POTUS matters massively in this election, because the next POTUS is likely going to replace 3 SCOTUS members, and that has huge implications for the future of this country.
