You aren't being trolled. I only use oatmeal in my veg burgs buy I have seen and tasted it done before and it is tasty.
Post above about soy sauce is a really good tip too. Gives the burg more flavour than just salt.
If I am using store bought ground I use soy sauce, if I am grinding the meat for my own patties I salt and pepper the patties on the grill.
If the soy makes the mixture too moist for your liking you can add some breadcrumbs to soak it up.
You will want to use quick oats if using them.
