If you put a little effort into Twitter you don't have to deal with offensive tweets. But it sounds like you don't feel like doing that, which is fine. I hear the same complain about Reddit, and it's easily fixed by unsubscribing from the default subreddits, and looking for the quality ones.
Anyway, I didn't mean it as a personal attack. We all know how hip you are.
