If I remember correctly with MacInnis, his contract was up and - instead of signing him for the BIG money of the time - they traded him (Housley deal). I'm also sitting here thinking an offer sheet may have been involved by St Louis, but it's long enough ago I don't remember clearly.

I believe St. Louis threw a gigantic (for the time) offer sheet at MacInnis; the Flames matched and then traded MacInnis to the Blues because they would rather have Housley than the RFA compensation.
