I know it it doesn't get mentioned amongst Americans at all, but American Oil interests are actually behind most of America's "climate change" plans, and are actively trying to block Canadian Oil to keep their Oil flowing smoothly during trying times in the Oil industry as it's a significant part of the US economy.
That probably sounds like conspiracy theory to an American hearing it for the first time (I know wittynickname also mentioned Hilary and getting serious about climate change) but outside the States, the US's Oil control throughtout the world is very clear, and the Democrats are heavily funded in this area.
They aren't serious about climate change at all, they're just serious about sounding serious about it, because if you've noticed saying "we need to start caring about the ENVIRONMENT!!" gets the biggest cheers at a liberal rally.

The one thing that Harper was right on was talking about mirroring the US's environmental policy when it came to taxation.
If the US doesn't implement a Carbon Tax, there's no way that we should since it will make our goods less competitive in the States.
Obama can bluster all he wants about Alberta's dirty Oil, but we're pretty clean and environmentally conscious compared to the US Oil industry, especially when you look at the Oil fields in California.
