Lots of people have seen him play, it's not like he crawled from under a rock. Professional scouts have seen him play. They peg him as a potential top 6 guy. Our management also calls him a potential top 6 guy, and again unlike Feaster I don't think they'd say that if they didn't actually believe that.

There are also Habs fans who have seen him play if you look it up. He was seen as a guy with "all the tools but no toolbox" (among other things). Many commentators have noted that he seemed to put his game together last season. Which isn't really that surprising at the age of 23. Everyone agrees he has size and skill.

Not to belittle CP, but people put a ridiculous amount of weight on comments made by CP members as opposed to professional scouting reports.

I've said it already, but we have a roster full of D-men on 1-ways, so for Wotherspoon to play requires first that someone gets injured or traded and then he needs to beat out other prospects. At which point he'd be at equal ground to grab that one spot from 2-4 other competitors.

On the other hand there's a spot open on the RW.

Also, Wotherspoon at 23 is a young defenseman, but Pribyl at 23 is entering his prime as a forward.

As for his "second rate league", IIRC Pribyls NHLe based on last season was something like 40-50 points which is NHL regular level if the rest is fine.
