Unfortunately, theAlpineOricale's negativity doesn't leave any room for my negativity, but I'll throw one thing in that bothered me.
About a month ago when two players were down with injury but the Jays were playing very well and were close to first Sportsnet did another one of their "let's sell what the Blue Jays are preparing for so the fans are less angry when it happens" and GM Ross Atkins in regards to what the Blue Jays were preparing to add at the deadline he basically said..
"Well let me tell you, if the two injured players (I believe it was Bautista and a reliever out at the time) were added to our roster from another team to the line-up that's currently battling for first, I'd say that would be a contender".
Like c'mon, we're not stupid, so don't deliver used car salesman worthy BS. The Jays likely aren't going to do much at the deadline, everyone already knows that, we don't need to be let down easy.
I guess that was just a little rant on sportsnet's reporting of the Blue Jays, it feels slightly condescending to watch a network that is owned by the team's owner. Even the silliness of reporting the opposite of what's happning (aka a couple years ago when they said the Jays were trying really hard to get better at the deadline then an American network outed that the Jays hadn't tried anything, or Sportsent reporting that David Price was being courted hard by the Blue Jays and then finding out that they didn't even extend an offer).
We get it, you guys aren't willing to spend with the big boys, it's annoying considering the networth of the company, but still it's fine, it's their team. But just let them be a very good team that likely won't be a contender and allow Sportnset to report on it as such. Give the fans more credit.
